Terms of Use

The terms that apply when you create a BottleBack resident account and use the points & rewards system.

This program is a BSIT capstone project (June 2027, Our Lady of Fatima University), aligned with RA 11898 — the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022. It is a small-scale community initiative, not a commercial service.

1. Eligibility

By creating an account, you confirm that you are a resident of Taytay, Rizal participating in the BottleBack recycling program, and that the information you provide (name, email, barangay) is accurate. One account per person — accounts are for individual residents, not households or businesses.

2. How Points Are Earned

  • Points are credited when a plastic bottle you deposit at the BottleBack machine is accepted.
  • The amount depends on bottle size (larger bottles earn more) — current rates are shown on the Rewards page.
  • To tie a deposit to your account, you check in on the site right before depositing (a "deposit session"). If you forget to check in, you can report the deposit afterward for an admin to verify against the machine's records.
  • Points have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts, sold, or exchanged for money.

3. Redeeming Rewards

Points can be redeemed for items listed on the Rewards page (e.g. water, biscuits, an eco bag). Redemption requests are reviewed and handed over by a program admin — points are only deducted once a redemption is confirmed, and are refunded automatically if a request is declined.

4. Fair Use

The BottleBack machine and points system are meant for genuine household recycling by residents of the barangay. Attempting to falsely claim deposits that didn't happen, sharing an account, or otherwise misusing the system may result in a claim being rejected or an account being suspended.

5. Your Information

We collect only what's needed to run the program: your name, email, barangay, password (stored securely, never in plain text), and your recycling activity (bottles deposited, points earned, redemptions). This information is used to operate your account and is not sold or shared with third parties outside the scope of this project.

6. Changes

As a capstone project, BottleBack may be refined during development and testing. These terms, point values, and reward options may be updated as the system evolves — check back here if anything about the program seems to have changed.
